Blue caves is the best known sight of Zante. They are located on the north coast of the island and quite far from the most resorts, such as Laganas, Kalamaki or the town of Zakynthos; but it is totally worth it to pay a visit. The wild white-colored rocky landscape together with the calm crystal clear blue water of the sea, create a beautiful contrast that leaves you speechless. The shape of the rocks together with the caves and the natural “tunnels” makes that place literally unique.
The Blue Caves are one of the islands most famous natural attractions and were discovered in 1897 by Antonio Komouto. The caves attract thousands of visitors each year and are located just below the lighthouse at Cape Skinari. The caves owe there name to the blue waters inside them. Objects below the water appear to turn blue. This includes people who can enter the water inside the caves to swim.

Best time to visit Blue caves, is in the morning or noon, when the light of the sun diffracts into the water and paints the sea with amazing white and blue colors.
